What is the Definition of Perfection
The word perfection really has three basic meanings. Each sense of the word used conveys a slightly different meaning. Perfection refers to a state of existence that is free from flaw and defect. Finding perfection in the universe is not possible as all things are inherently flawed. Instead the concept of perfection is then left to the interpretation of the person viewing an object. Where one might see it as perfect the other may see it as flawed. The main point is that perfection in this sense refers to the best state that an object can hope to achieve. People then often use the term perfection to describe an ideal object or circumstance such as a perfect spouse, home, or dream.
Perfection also refers to the perfect embodiment of a concept or ideal circumstance. In this instance perfection can in fact be achieved to a degree. When one plans everything out and executes it flawlessly, it can be construed as perfect. This view of the word perfect would be what embodies ones hopes, dreams, and ambitions and if every one achieved it, it would lead to a state of perfect contentment. This could also be the standard of excellence such as the perfect play.
People are always striving to create that perfect society free from pain and suffering. The act of making something perfect is also a definition of perfection. So far these lofty ambitions have fallen short as the world still suffers much pain, anguish, and chaos. Yet, that has not deterred mankind from continuing to work toward more just, conscience societies. The United States is a perfect example. Each generation has attempted to expand the ideals of liberty and freedom and make them more inclusive. It is not the end itself that is perfect but instead the act of trying to create a utopian existence.
Perfection in all senses of the word holds ones highest aspirations, standards, and ideals. A sense of perfection is a degree of completeness and harmony. The notion that under no circumstance could something be any better as it has already been achieved. It is worth noting that each person has their own values of what perfection is and the word perfection is a way of explaining ones highest degree of value to something. Each person strives for a degree of perfection in their life. It is the point reached when one has achieved all they have set out to accomplish.
