Can i be Perfect - Admired

Some people will tell you that there is no such thing as perfection, that it simply doesn’t exist whereas some people will tell you that they themselves are perfect.

And whether  it is a person or an object that holds this perfection, the fact is perfection is in the eye of the beholder, it is unique to the individual. So what appears to be perfect to one person, could be completely hideous to another.

The struggle to achieve perfection can be dangerous, often leading whoever is searching for perfection down a path of self destruction. Leaving them an obsessed shell of their former self.

But it seems right that once you have seen perfection, one should want to achieve it, but the struggle for perfection is all consuming.

The body builder who wants to achieve the perfect body, he has seen it, and now he wants it for himself, he does not want to be better, he wants to be the best. He plans it in his mind, he starts his work out like anybody else, he goes to the gym a few days a week, until he starts to see results.

Then he starts to go a few more days a week, then he goes everyday, then a few more hours everyday. He has made a huge difference to his body, but it’s not enough, he wants more.

But the human body has limits, he can only go so far. But this is not good enough for him, so he takes enhancing drugs to help push his limits. He pumps his body full of dangerous chemicals, he risks not only his health, but his life, for the pursuit of something he will never obtain.

He will never be completely satisfied with his body, he will always want more.

The young girl, a bit bigger than all of her friends, she sees the “perfect” women in the magazines, she knows she doesn’t look like that, the boys and girls in school have made that perfectly clear, they bully her and they tease her. So she feels like she needs to look like those women in order to be accepted.

She decides she needs to lose some weight, so she skips a meal, she feels good about herself for having the strength to do that, so she skips a few more.

She’s lost a great deal of weight now, so much so that people have even stopped picking on her. But it’s not enough, she still doesn’t look like those women, she’s got a long way to go.

So she decides one day that she won’t eat anything at all, and she does the same the next day and the next. She has not eaten for days, everyone can see she is too thin and she is sick, she is tired and cold and her heart is in serious trouble. She may well die, all for the pursuit of perfection, and like the body builder, she will never be happy with her body, it will never be enough.

So when we see someone that we believe to be perfect, stand back and admire them, think about how much you appreciate their beauty, but think about the struggle that is going on under the surface of their perfect skin.
