How Negativity Impacts your Efforts
We all need a secure support system around us in everything we do. This is true whether we are doing it on our own and need people cheering us on and believing in us, or if we need actual help to do something. Nay sayers give off nothing but negativity. Who needs that when you are doing something you really want to do, but may be afraid will fail? However, what we choose to do with that negativity, how we choose to let it impact us and whether or not we let it affect us enough to impact the end result of what we ultimately decide to do, is what matters most.
When you are faced with negativity, you should always face it head-on, with the positive attitude of letting it make you better, stronger and even more determined in your efforts. Never let it knock you down or sway you. Adversity and opposition are just tests to see how bad you want something and to what lengths you are willing to go in order to get it or achieve it. If you are really passionate about something, the reasons to do it will always far outweigh the reasons not to. We should always go into everything we do, prepared to show just how capable we are of achieving it and how badly we want to do just that. Then, if we are faced with negativity and opposition, we should let it make us become that much stronger, passionate and amped to show just how capable we are. Show those haters!
Unfortunately, some people just let negativity knock them down and they give up on what they claimed to want so badly. What they fail to realize, however, is that is exactly what the people spewing that negativity want them to do. We’d all be lying if we didn’t think “Wow, is this really worth it?” at least once in our lives after being faced with so much negativity on the heels of a big decision, especially if that negativity is coming from someone whose opinion we hold in high esteem. We are all human, after all and we have all second guessed ourselves from time to time, especially when our loved ones doubt our abilities. However, we cannot let that sway us from our goals or let it affect our end result. Some people will only give half an effort after being faced with negativity, or even censor themselves too much, with a little voice in the back of their head wondering “how will people perceive this?” We cannot act on our disheartened thoughts in the event of negativity being thrown at us.
Negativity can either make you or break you. It’s up to you and your will to succeed, to decide which category you fall into. Even the greatest people in history had negativity thrown their way, and most are famous solely for combating and overcoming that negativity. As Winston Churchill once said, “You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
