Your Health is your only True Wealth

Your health is your only true wealth. Because, without health, it may be difficult to realize or even appreciate your great wealth. A person’s attitude toward money or wealth should be straighten out first, in order to put their life and happiness into perspective. Most people believe wealth is the precursor to happiness. Sadly, most people are stunningly mistaken. Whether, you have plenty of money or not enough money, chances are you probably spend considerable time thinking about money. This obsession with money, may sometimes rob people of their joy and happiness.

Consider a miserly person that hoards their wealth and may never make time to enjoy life. Really, what is all of that wealth really doing for them? These miserly people might be stressed out and have stomach ulcers worrying so much about their investments. It’s no secret that during the Great Depression many wealthy people took their own lives because they valued their money much more than their own lives. Now, how disturbing is that scenario. After all, living a healthy and happy life should have much more value than money, shouldn’t it?

Of course, it’s no secret that wealth or riches can be a mixed blessing. English congregational Pastor John Henry Jowett said, “The real measure of our wealth is how much we’d be worth if we lost all of our money.”

True wealth can be measured in a multitude of ways. Consider, you may have had an illustrious career and this career may not have made you very wealthy, but you may have found a rich reward in serving people. The majority of good teachers, teach for the happiness they feel and and the sense of accomplishment they receive in teaching kids. This, in itself is a rich reward that can not be measured.

Health and happiness are much more important than money. A person can be robbed of their wealth. Yet, happiness is guarded by your heart and hidden deep within your soul. So stop spending the majority of your time worrying about how to get more wealth. More than likely, you’re robbing yourself of the precious time that you have to be healthy.

The Bible teaches us in the book of Philippians 4:11 “I have learned to be content with whatever I have.” Contentment or happiness, unlike wealth, can be attained more easily. It’s simply a matter of mind over matter or material things.
