Which is better Fame or Fortune - Fortune

Fame or Fortune?

Fame can certainly be a wonderful thing: at least for a short time. It is a fact that fame is only temporary. You can have lots of fame for a little while but have no financial fortune to go with it. There are all kinds of good fortune; there are good looks, talent, special gifts and good health. These are all wonderful things but good fortune is something that should be used for the benefit and need of others.

It would seem that the best fortune to posess in this case in money. God has blessed many of us wealthy people. It is the duty of the wealthy to assist the needs of their less fortunate fellow human beings. It would be unrealistic to expect that everyone could be wealthy. That would have a devatating effect on the world economy.

Good fortune in the form of money can be used for a number of things. Fame, on the other hand, can also be used to a more limited degree depending on the individuals reputation and why the person is famous in the first place.

Money can be used to build schools in this country and third world countries. It can be used to dig wells and create jobs.

There are enough millionaires and billionairs in this country to help those who are about to lose their homes. They can help those in nursing homes and virtually all the needs of those in financial trouble. People can be fed and medicines can be made available to those in need.

Fame may not be able to accomplish these same acts. Some people are famous just for being famous; Joe the Plumber is a prime example. He had no money. But because he said a few controversial statements to a politician that is what made him famous. He had no money and therefore, could do little for anyone else. He made some efforts for the middle class but he hadn’t been able to do much.

Personal wealth can help a portion of the working class. It is impossible to help everyone but there are so many extremely wealthy in the world we might be able to crawl out of our current circumstance with more of their support.

Fame has it’s uses. It can bring attention to the plight of the less fortunate if used properly much can be done, money can be raised to help those less fortunate. but like the old saying goes, “Fame is fleeting”. Most of the people who have wealth have never been heard of. This can be most advantageous. They don’t have to have their name out there if they don’t want to and it is better and safer if they do not.

With the blessings of wealth come the responsibility of our fellow man and woman.
