It is hard to find out whether love, money or fame is the most important thing. We are massaged by a lot of information regarding the wealthy and famous people and non materialistic values seem to be pushed aside. Youngsters are probably the most affected group. This is very sad as youth is when we should figure out what is important, although it is never too late to go through this process. It is also important to keep in mind that people with different personalities will consider different things to be important.

However, no matter what your personality is, there is a need for some deeper thoughts. It does not matter if you strive for love, money or fame. You should always focus on both, the benefits and drawbacks each of them provides. I can assure you that everything, even love, has its drawbacks.

Love surely is a wonderful thing. It can bring a lot of joy into your life, but it can also ruin it. The partner you love may cheat on you and thus hurt your feelings. Even the parent-child love can cause a lot of pain, especially if parent outlives his/her child. That is the most horrific scenario most parents can think of. So, why should love be the most important thing for us? Well, simply because our lives would be empty without it. Virtually all human beings need love. If it is absent in their lives, they will get troubled with depressive thoughts. In some extreme cases these people will become heartless criminals.

It may seem that the answer to initial question is clear, but it is a bit more complicated. Love is the most important thing as everybody will suffer by its scarcity. However, it is not the only important value. As I have mentioned before, materialistic values are ranked high in today’s society. If you ignore this aspect of life, you will get into trouble fast. Just imagine that all you care about is love. You spend all your time with your loved ones or by helping other people for free. There would be no time to earn money. Without money, you will not have your own housing, food and fresh water. All the suffering caused by a lack of money may even lead to the loss of your loved ones. So, money is also important, although it is not the most important thing.

Fame is probably the least important for most of us. It is sad that many, especially young, people consider becoming famous their most important goal. A lot of these people will waste their lives pursuing fame and never achieving it. Some of them may get their fifteen minutes, but is it really worth it?

Also, do not forget that there are two types of fame. You can either become famous inside a group of like-minded people or a celebrity known to the entire country/world. The first one can be very rewarding and certainly is worth trying to achieve whether you are scientist or artist. It is also the type of fame that can usually be achieved by skill, hard work and dedication. On the other hand, becoming a world-wide known celebrity is something that is unachievable for most of us. Mass-media are the makers of this kind of celebrities. Some of them deserve the fame and some do not. Anyway, tabloid reporters follow every step of these celebrities. They lose their privacy and it often ruins their lives.

As you can see, finding what is important is a process that requires more thinking that it would seem to. A wise person will look for a balance between love and money as both are necessary for life. Talented and ambitious person will also consider fame as an important goal to achieve.
