The Economies Affects on Teenagers
The economy of the Nation is affecting people all over the world, especially in the U.S. But, when politicians look to fix the economy, do they recognize one of the main targets of the down fall? My question is, how many people aim to help teenagers, who are affected majorly by the sinking economy?
The economy is harming young adults in many ways. To start, without money FOR the government, we can not get as much money FROM the government. For say, our schools. If the economy suffers, our schools are at the bottom of the list of worries, when they affect our future in one of the biggest ways. Schools are crowded, unsupported, and teachers are under qualified. What is the point in forcing the law of staying in school upon teenagers, when most of our schools are as inadequate as they are now?
What would YOU do, if you couldnt get a job at McDonalds? Adults are having such tough luck finding jobs that they qualify for, (mainly due to the economy, ofcourse) that they look into minimum wage jobs, normally aimed towards younger citizens. How is a 17 year old girl, looking for a job to save up for college, supposed to compete with a 29 year old man who finished highschool, went to college, and has worked since the age of 18? In other ways, teenagers need money too! Without money, where are teenagers to look? My opinion is NOT that the economy is totally at fault for drugs, violence, etc, but when teens cant get a job flipping burgers, or in other grunt work, what’s to stop them from looking into drug dealing, and stealing? Teenagers are the future of the world, and need to be assisted in this harsh economy just as much as adults: if not more. While politicians are declaring promises of approaching the failing economy, most of the ways are targeted towards adults. Teenagers are under estimated, and need to be treated equaly, atleast in this matter, in order to make this country as succesful as possible.
