Celebrities Influence Teenagers

Teenagers often have pictures of their heroes on their bedroom walls, and a majority of these heroes for many teens, happens to be celebrities.  There is something about Hollywood that appeals to teenagers, and oftentimes, the influence is not positive.  There are some ways that are very common in which celebrities influence teenagers.

1.  Celebrities make many things look easy.  The amount of talent that many celebrities have, make the things they do look easy, and many teenagers see this and think that their lives will be the same.  The only problem is when they see that life is not that simple, they get depressed and do stupid things.  When a teenager sees a celebrity, they don’t see the long hours put in getting to that position, but rather just see the end result.  This is dangerous as teenagers need to learn to work hard for what they want.  This can be a negative influence, not directly as a result of what the celebrity is doing, but what the teenager is perceiving.

2.  Many celebrities have a lot of money and a lot of problems.  Teenagers see the luxurious life that many celebrities live and what they don’t often see is that their money does not equal happiness.  If a teenager grows up to live the life of a celebrity and they make a lot of money, that doesn’t mean that the problems go away.  Celebrities influence teenagers by causing them to think that they can earn a lot of money and everything will be happily, ever after.  Money is often more harmful than helpful, if a person is not careful.

3.  Hollywood attire often influences teenagers to try to look like them.  However, this can negatively influence the teenager because the teen will never be their own person, but instead be always trying to copy the life and style of someone else.  A teenager needs to understand who they are and once they realize that they can never be someone else, then they will not be influenced as easy.  Celebrities influence teenagers when they dress the way they do and the teens try to copy someone they are not.

Celebrities are not at fault for the many ways that they influence teenagers.  Teenagers need to realize that the life of a celebrity is not all that it is cracked up to be.
