Reasons why People Gamble
Reasons why people gamble
Gambling has been around for hundreds of years and everybody has the instincts to sometimes take a gamble in their lives and enjoy it. Gambling basically means to take a risk, however most of us associate the word to risking money in games in the bookies or casinos, games such as poker, roulette, blackjack and sports betting.
Why as human beings do we gamble? Everybody has their own reasons for starting however we all feel the same emotions whilst playing such as fear, joy, anxiety, doubt etc. Most people gamble purely to make more money and when they lose they continue to play until they win it back. Maybe several people out of hundreds break even and then continue to gamble to get ahead in money purely because of greed and temptation. This is a human fault that most people have and the bookies and casinos take advantage over year in and out.
Another common reason for gambling is loneliness and boredom. Many gamblers usually either single or old aged with a lack of excitement and plenty time to spare. Interactive gaming such as roulette, blackjack and poker are all the most popular games in the world because they provide a great thrill of gambling excitement for people who may not have much excitement in their lives.
Logic and emotion are the two elements of this word that defines the difference between the rich and the poor. Most people on this planet do not possess the intelligence to realise the importance of controlling your emotions, feeling emotions usually encourage us to make the wrong decisions and miss logic. Emotional attachments and gambling are an addiction and can lead you to be out of control, gambling with logic and control is not a bad thing and is acceptable.
These are the reasons why we gamble and usually why people become addicted or miss success in their gambles. Although gambling is viewed widely as a negative thing, it is a huge part of life and everything we do has a risk element which could be defined as a gamble. Every business on the high street and associated with your bills, first started out as a gamble but with a logical element with planning and control. We all take gambles in life and there is no reason to feel bad about the risk you are taking; however, keeping control and understanding why you are gambling is essential to your success.
