Nonprofit Review Giving to the Red Cross as a sure way of Helping Disaster Victims

The Red Cross has been on the forefront in helping disaster victims recover from their losses in the aftermath of a disaster. Its role has been instrumental across the globe, touching lives of many, who at the time are helpless and traumatized.

The Red Cross acts as a nerve center for volunteers to mobilize themselves, in accordance to the urgency of the situation, through financial, material and labor contributions.

Being the largest international organization, known as The Red Crescent in the Muslim world, the Red Cross is the only volunteer organization, well established and adequately equipped to respond effectively to the call of help. Through well-trained workers, both employed and volunteers, the quality of care is above average, and characterized by the compassion and love shared by its workers.

Unlike other humanitarian organizations, the Red Cross has displayed remarkable management, especially in its finances, through need prioritization. The majority of the citizens express confidence with Red Cross in management of their time and finances, that they are willing to increase their contributions whenever they are called to do so.

The Red Cross benefits from the quality of training it conducts across the globe, equiping citizens with knowledge and skills, vital to saving lives in case of an emergency. This training is usually made available to all interested members, at its training centers, as well as working in collaboration with numerous organizations who conduct training sessions for their employees.

Their training goes beyond First Aid, to include CPR, child birth, counseling on Drugs and alcohol addiction, and disaster preparedness. Other courses are provided, in response to the needs of the community at that time.

In the recent decades, the focus has been to better prepare citizens to responding to disasters, through Disaster Preparedness courses, in conjunction with both the state and the federal government. These courses are designed to empower citizens to be able to identify and manage disasters, and if possible, stop them from happening, especially in the case of man – made disasters.

Its work in the past has tremendously impacted lives of many, by working with both the federal and the state government in providing shelters and other basic needs for disaster victims. Due to past successes in its response to disaster, Red Cross has enjoyed global support in terms of contributions, both financial and material, as well as membership fees collected throughout the year.

For these reasons, the Red Cross remains the sure way, by which volunteers can reach the disaster victims, irrespective of their location or the scope of the disaster.
