Girls should be allowed to join the Boy scouts

What is the purpose of girls joining the Boy Scouts? There is a such thing as Girl Scouts and there is nothing wrong with girls being proud to be a part of the Girls Scouts. Women’s lib served a wonderful cause and women have come a long way since the days they couldn’t do anything other than be quiet housewives, barefoot and pregnant.

Women can join the armed forces and fight for their country, they own business, become politicians and can fly to the moon if that is the profession she chooses. Women can do it all, but when it comes to girls becoming a Boy Scout, it makes no sense at all.

Boys should be able to bond together and learn things from their boy or cub scout leaders and girls should be able to do the same as a Girl Scout. Young boys and girls don’t have much in common, they have different interests and allowing girls to be able to join the Boy Scouts or the boys to join the Girl Scouts has no place in society.

The only reason a girl would want to join the Boy Scouts is to stir up controversy or to prove a point that she can do the same things that her male counterparts can do.  She doesn’t have to join the Boy Scouts to do the same things as boys. She can easily do those things without being a part of the Boy Scouts, like spending time with her father where he can take her camping or fishing, teaching her the things that boys enjoy.

It’s not uncommon that a girl would want to do the things a boy does and it just might be that she wants to bond with a male. Perhaps her father is deceased, she doesn’t have any brothers and she doesn’t want to spend time learning how to sew and cook.  A girl should know how interesting and enjoyable being a Girl Scout is. It is also fulfilling and she will have those memories forever.

Leaving the Boy Scouts to be Girl free, and the Girl Scouts to remain Boy free is better for everyone. Some things should continue to be traditional without change. There is no harm done in it and any girl wanting to join the Boy Scouts or any organization that is traditionally male should not be offensive in any girls eyes if the guys chooses to keep it all boys.
