Selling adult material on the internet can encompass many things, pornographic movies, sex toys, sexy costumes, lubricants, etc. In a free country these things should be available on the internet just like any other product. Buying adult materials online is good because the buyer has discretion. Many people would not be comfortable walking into a sex shop to buy a vibrator or walking up to a newsstand to purchase a pornographic magazine. On the internet, an adult is free to shop around and make purchases without embarrassment.

Some people would have no problem walking into a sex shop, but many cities do not have easy access to adult products. Many adult shops are located in seedy sections of towns in neighborhoods that many people may not feel comfortable traveling to. The internet does away with all this and adult materials can be delivered right to your door in discrete packaging.

People are often concerned about their kids having access to adult materials online, but watching online porn and purchasing adult products online are two different things. Anyone can type in “dirty” words and find sexual videos or pictures on the internet, but as far as buying adult materials, only adults have credit and debit cards to purchase such things. We cannot live in a nanny state in order to protect children. It is up to the parents to monitor what their children are doing on the internet.

We cannot ban every “adult” thing because a child might inadvertently get access to it. If we take away the freedom to buy adult materials online then we are venturing into a slippery slope. What would be next? Movies, books, video games, or any product deemed to be of a sexual nature could be banned from being purchased on the internet. At a certain age, kids are going to be curious about sex and this should be an opportunity for parents to discuss things instead of pretending that sex doesn’t exist.

Adult materials should be sold online because the internet is a free domain and not owned by a private corporation or any one country. Adults have a right to purchase these materials if they so choose to without some moral or religious police interfering. Many people are sexually repressed and don’t even want adult materials available at all, but at the end of the day, adults are free to make choices on how they express their sexuality.
