Adult Material Sold to Minors via the Internet - Yes

Adult material, such as pornography, pharmaceutical drugs and weapons should absolutely never be sold on the Internet. The world wide web is accessible to anyone and everyone. Children along with pedophiles have access to the Internet. Guns are falling into the hands of unstable people who commit acts of violence on other people every day. The problem with pharmaceutical drugs sold on the Internet poses a threat to the health of those that have chosen to purchase their medicine this way. Last but not least, identity theft is prevalent on unsecured web sites. Adult material sold on the Internet is opening up a host of problems.

Pornography: Pornography is printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, that is designed to stimulate erotic feelings in an individual. These types of materials should never be sold on the Internet to anyone. Heaven forbid a minor child has access to this smut! This is an area of high exploitation of children.

Pharmaceutical drugs: Pharmaceutical drugs should only be prescribed and administered by a licensed physician. Sure, remedies are readily available on the Internet. Some people may argue the cost of pharmaceutical drugs on the Internet is less costly. First of all, your heath is your wealth. You should never shortchange yourself in the name of saving a few dollars. The real problem occurs when pharmaceutical drugs are abused or sold by the buyer that searches the Internet for these cheaper drugs.

Guns: Firearms are sold at an alarming rate via the Internet. Often times there are guns sold at an auction via the Internet. So who is checking to make certain that these weapons aren’t landing in the hands of violent, unstable people? There are semi automatic weapons sold on the Internet. Are we arming the citizens for combat or protection against their own neighbor? For instance, a 5 Glock 40, a type of semi automatic weapon, is sold for a mere $149. Imagine the damage this automatic weapon can do in the hands of an unstable person who hasn’t taken their medications to prevent them from extreme acts of violence. The Internet should never give an unstable person the opportunity to do harm to another person. This alone should forbid the sale of firearms over the Internet.

Identity theft: Did you know one in twenty-five Americans is a victim of identity theft each year. Adult materials to some teens is akin to forbidden fruit. So why tempt them with pornographic materials, guns and pharmaceutical drugs. Access to any and everything has gone way too far on the world wide web.
