The Mystery Of the Legend of The Mothman

The creature seen many times in Point Pleasant West Virginia was given the name Mothman. He was first spotted between November of 1966 and 1967. They say he looked a lot like Batman, as he was a man sized creature with wings. Batman was also pretty popular at that time.

Those who are skeptical of the Mothman theory say that the most likely explanation of what these people saw was a giant barn owl. Try to convince a native West Virginian of that.

The pandemic of the Mothman began on November 12th 1966. A group of men in a cemetery in Clendenin West Virginia saw a large brown creature lift off from behind them and fly over their heads.

Three days later, two young married couples from Point Pleasant were out for a drive when they spotted two red glowing eyes of a large beast that looked like it was shaped like a man, but larger. It had huge wings. They took off in the car only to find the bird following them all the way to the city.

The following evening the towns’ people armed themselves and went searching for this new Mothman. This night however, the MOthman was seen in front of a home staring into the windows in the city.

The Mothman was seen several times again throughout the month of November and then once again in January. After that it was never seen again.

The theory for never seeing the Mothman again is a mystery. Did someone kill the beast?  If so, why not report it and gain fame? Was the creature protecting the city from something? What could it have been? Was it’s time there done and he just moved on? How come the creature was never seen anywhere else? Another theory is that the creature was part of a government experiment based off of the Batman movies. Like UFO’s, here today, gone tomorrow. 

Some say that you can still see the Mothman if you look hard enough. It is recommended that you take a trip to the McClintic Wildlife Station, also known as the k TNT. You see, during World War II, this particular wildlife area was actually a military manufacturing facility for top-secret explosives

 As explained above, It is the location of several Mothman sightings. Take a walk through the igloos in the TNT. You will see that the area is well marked. These igloos were used as storage areas by the military. This is where you should begin your hunt for the mystery of the legend of the Mothman.
