Sell your Junk for Cash
Recession around the world means that most people are looking for a little extras cash. But how do you make it? One person’s rubbish can sometimes turn into someone else’s gold. But how do you get the gold? Everything in some way has a value; it’s just unlocking that value.
There are a number of ways to make money from Junk. But first you need to examine what sort of junk you have. It’s worth considering making piles of unwanted bits and pieces. A pile of clothes, one of electrical, one of wooden, and one of metal for example.
Your first point to try is Ebay; look at what you have, check to see what sort of value there is by searching Ebay’s pages for similar items. Bigger items you can list as buyer collects so you have no fears over expensive postage costs.
Freeads are another good choice; every country has their own version from Craigs List to Gumtree, and these are good ways of selling off items free of charge.
A lot of companies offer recycle packages, whether it be old bits of jewellery or antiquated mobile phones, get your goods to these companies for a quick turn around.
Scrap merchants are another strong option. Take your metal items to a scrap merchant; the UK television show The Apprentice recently saw one time secure a substantial amount of cash for various metals, if you have copper, you might be surprised how much its value is, many old water storage containers (metal based) are copper lined.
A new trend in the recycling line is money for clothes; it does not matter how old the clothes are, as long as they are not damaged, they have value. They are bought cheaply, but these companies target people who might give to charity.
If you have any building supplies, i.e. bricks etc., a lot of building contractors will buy this to help in construction sites. You can also find reclamation yards that take in old pieces of wooden furniture, or flooring, tiles, flagstones and the like. These sort of places love old tools too.
If you’re a little more creative and have time on your hands, why not look at conversion? An old pine sideboard might look great given a shabby chic whitewash. Why not turn old records into clocks, or even try melting them slightly to make bowls, or vases, they look great. Old pottery can be broken up to make mosaic picture frames etc. Recovering chairs (dining chairs) can be cheap and not quite as difficult as you might think.
If you have an old computer, and you know what if any part of it is wrong, strip the PC down and sell the different components separately. Buying old PC’s on Ebay is an easy task, and they are sold cheaply, but dismembering your PC into different components’ can triple the value.
There literally is value in almost anything, you just need to think outside the box a little to get those items sold. Selling on Ebay is for most an easy option, but being a little more thoughtful will always bring better rewards, and who knows, it might work so well for you that you pursue a new career path.
