Why do People become Rude during the Holidays

Everyone is in a big hurry to get their shopping done, get home and prepare for holiday parties.  Impatience is usually the rule during the holiday season. Expectations are high and our funds and patience are very low. This is a recipe for rude behavior in people during the holiday season. Commercialism has taken the spirit and joy out of Christmas.  How much does it cost? If it cost your consideration of others and rudeness, then I would say that holiday gift is way over priced. The lady that insisted she was ahead of you in line.  Be gracious, you will feel much better, and it will also keep your anxiety level down and your blood pressure down. Five minutes out of your life without angst is indeed worth it.

While attending a holiday party at a popular restaurant. The ceiling fan directly above our heads was making the customers cold and cooling down our onion soup before we were able to consume it.  We asked the waitress to please cut off the fan. She responded with, “I’ll get to it”. Moments later the fan was still chilling us and our food.  Once again she responded with , “I will tell the manager. “.  The very last time, we once again pointed out the fan had not been cut down or cut off. This time, the rude response was , “yeah, yeah, yeah”.  I kept my grace, finished my cold soup and neglected to tip her rude behavior.  I don’t think she understood , this is the season to be merry.

Parking spaces at the mall are often battlegrounds. The customers  circle a level two and three times to get an optimum parking space, only to be cut off by an impatient wreckless driver, as you slam on your breaks to keep from hitting a car that appeared to come from no where to turn in front of you to get that parking space. Take a deep breath and try to recall the names of the reindeer. Be sure to wish the rude offender a Merry Christmas.  Just between you and I , Lets call this rude offender Rudolph. Careful, stay jolly, after all , this time next week Christmas will be all over.

The sales woman who insists you don’t get a box because you didn’t spend x number of dollars or use your card for that store. Don’t worry , staying budget conscious will be your saving grace next month when the credit card bills start rolling in. Handling this rude behavior may be taxing on your holiday spirit. You have the last ho ho ho.  Isn’t the season about giving and joy.  I think you think so too. Merry Christmas.
