Three Ways to Increase your Willpower
This life sometimes feels flat without any target. Just doing a routine daily schedule. Believe it or not, doing the same schedule everyday is not good for your health. You need different ways to change your ordinary life to extra- ordinary. That’s why you really need targets to make your days run differently.
If you have found a target, then you will have something to fight for. That willingness to fight could color and brightening your day. But unfortunately sometimes its feels like there is nothing motivational left. If that is so, you need a booster to increase your willpower rapidly. And there are some ways to increase your willpower
First, you must look through your self and find out your biggest inner motivation.
The strongest inner motivation usually comes from your self, this is a fact that is rarely known. Usually people think that the greatest motivation comes from precious things like money, power, wealth, women, or higher level on the job. But that all will never work well without inner willpower. Inner willpower usually comes from your background. For example family or precious moments in the past.
For example, you have successful parents. Everyone knows you can easily enjoy your life by your parents wealth. But don’t you ever think that if you can be someone better than your parents, it would be great? Make your family’s successfulness as your inner motivation by pushing yourself to pass your parent’s success line. Or in another case, if you have a broken-home family, you don’t want that happen to you or your future family. “I don’t want my future like that”. Make it your motivation to do something better in order to avoid that bad thing from happening.
Past moments also can be a great inner motivation. It will guide you to do something better to avoid something bad in the past, or to do something better to reach again something good in the past. It definitely will increase your willpower.
Then, the second thing that can increase your willpower is by looking to the future.
What kind of future do you want? Welfare living with a billion dollars in your safety box, a wonderful house in every country, and some sporty marvelous cars in your garage? A small but warm house with a wife and two nice kids? Or become a big boss in a multinational company? All of those future dreams will guide you to increase your willpower.
What you must to do is just imagine a scene of your dreamed future and focusing on what kind of future you wish. For example you are a reporter on a non-famous newspaper. Sometimes you feel bored doing your schedule: reporting, interviewing people, writing, reporting again, and writing again. But in reality you really want to become a top journalist and maybe want to get a Pulitzer. What you must to do is imagine the moment when you get that Pulitzer. How does it feel? Amazing, full of happiness, you see all of your colleagues smile proudly. It will be a great moment if it really happens. So, don’t let other people take that opportunity from you, move on and grab it!
And the last, start the effort right now.
This is the simplest thing to increase your willpower. But it can also be the hardest thing. Why? It is because usually most people don’t like to do something early. For example a student who always delays doing homework, an officer who is always late submitting a report, or a reporter who always writes his article near the deadline. That all happened because “I-can-do-it-later” thought. And actually this is not good.
What you must to do is think the opposite, “if I can do it now, why must I do it later?” By starting the effort right now, it will increase your willpower. But why?
The answer is because by doing the effort as soon as possible, it will destroy pessimism. Usually people think that their target is too hard to do. Like “Ah, it is impossible to get a Pulitzer. I am just a new journalist and I can’t write well like another journalist” or “Ah, this kind of business is too hard to do and highly risky. Maybe I must look at another kind of business”. Actually, this kind of feeling can decrease your willpower rapidly. By doing what you must to do right now, it will destroy that pessimism.
Then after a while you do your effort, you’ll find that it is not too hard to do. If you have done that step, just go ahead and keep your good job.
There are the three ways to increase your will power. Finding out your inner greatest motivation, look to the future, and do the effort right now.
