Theres more to Life than Drive Thrus and Television - Unhealthy!
I believe everyone yearns to be understood and be accepted by those around them. There is nothing greater than knowing that the people you love, love you back and accept ALL of you, flaws and all. However, when that acceptance includes accepting an unhealthy lifestyle, such as being obese, it should at the very least raise some concern. People don’t just wake up one day, and decide that they’re okay with being fat. People also don’t just wake up one morning, and decide they’re completely lazy. It is a result of living a certain way. We as a society have become accustomed to a lifestyle of convenience and it’s no ones fault in particular. But, in my opinion, this shouldn’t be a reason for us to let our loved ones become trapped in an unhealthy and lazy cycle.
There are a number of ways to rationalize, why being fat is okay. I’ve heard some say, it’s because they have been diagnosed with a certain disease that causes them to be fat. Some would even tell you, “well if I’m happy with the way I look, shouldn’t that be enough?” Being happy with the way you look is empowering. However, anyone who is truly happy, should only wish for that happiness to be prolonged. And living an unhealthy lifestyle is just the opposite of that, even if you are happy with the way you look at the moment.
One of the biggest issues in America right now, is healthcare. People are always complaining about healthcare costs, and the long wait lines at the hospital, without realizing that we are part of the problem, and part of the solution too if we so choose. Because our body is a self-correcting system. That lazy feeling you have, is simply a result of what you’ve been putting in your mouth. You can easily change that, by choosing a more healthy alternative for your breakfast meal. No pills needed, no doctor visits, and no wait time. You essentially have the power to choose to feel great and energized, or to feel like a slouch and a lazy couch potato. Your life is your own, and it’s great to have people in your life that accept you, even if you’re living an unhealthy lifestyle. However, having a prolonged life, not shortened by death and diseases associated with being Obese, is even greater. There’s more to life, than drive thru’s and television.
