The Social Disgraces of America
I honestly can say, I am shocked and appalled by the racist and gender specific hatred cast upon our Country in this last election. Never have I heard such horrific lies and comments made about all of our candidate.
People are very eager to share their prejudices about the Presidential candidates. I don’t ever recall hearing a candidates middle name mentioned as much as I have this past election. Who cares about anyones middle name ? Then there was the experience factor. Maybe this is a good thing? Our new President might have a new and different way to shed light on our dysfunctional economy, health care system and all the rest of our government . Our new President elect, Barak Obama has stood through some of the most outrageous criticisms ever to shadow a candidate and he still won.
I realize only one party can win the election, but let’s look at what Sarah Palin suffered through. First and foremost she is a Woman. Then there was her lack of experience and her wardrobe. Again, who cares, what she wears, some of the mens suits are just as expensive. The Republican party is very quick to blame Sarah for the loss of the election. They chose her, for goodness sakes, so it’s whose fault? I never saw so many people at any candidates rally as I saw at hers. She rejuvenated the party and sparked interest and enthusiasm in the election. She had more guts than any of the men, she stood her ground and said what was really on her mind and how she proposed to fix it. Again, without sounding redundant, maybe new and fresh ideas will help our Country.
New ideas, let’s talk about that topic for a minute. “The NEW DEAL” was one. Only good ever came out of that program. The SPACE Program, yes, they do have their problems, but look at where we have been with this program. Why can’t Barak Obama shine new lights, cut a new path and open new doors to tomorrow. I feel he can’t do any worse than the last administration with his new ideas. Don’t fear new ideas, at least he has some, where is our adventurism?
It is so unfortunate that people can’t look past their predijuices long enough to give a new face a chance. Idon’t feel comfortable picking out a specific group of people to highlight, but I believe that those less fortunate people who have suffered losses from the current administration, were the one’s wise enough to see the light, forget color, forget lack of experience and look at new and fresh ideas, plut their prejudices aside and elect our newest President with hope and anticipation of a brighter future.
I personally am shocked by the racism exhibited by my Mother this past election. She alway told me that no matter what a persons skin color, all Men and Women are created equal. They must get dressed, take baths, eat and sleep, just like I did. She told me never to be rude to anyone of a different color or race. They didn’t choose their color and can’t help how they were born. Does that mean everything else my Mother taught me doesn’t really matter either? I am now very confused, maybe my Mother was prejudice all along, but she didn’t want me to be.
My Mother was for Hillary Clinton. Once Hillary was out of the race, my Mother started her hate mongering of all of the candiates. She told everyone she new she was writing in Hillary, because the other two candidates were unqualified and/or friends of the wrong party. She wasn’t shy about mentioning that we can’t have a Black President before we have a Woman President, how would that look. Mother always said she thougth hightly of John McCain, but she couldn’t vote for him because he has changed. If I hear that comment one more time, I’ve leaving the Country. John McCain just wasn’t the right gender. I really believe it didn’t matter who the candidate was unless their name was Hillary Clinton, Mom wasn’t voting for them.
I personally don’t have any obvious prejudicues against either candidate ecept for their party. I’ll just be happy to be rid of the last administration and eager to see someone interested in blazing a new trail and eager to get started on repairing our Country from the mistakes of the last 8 year administration. Someone, who, no matter what their color or gender can make us a whole Country again.
