Prepare for the Future - Yes
2013 A new year and a new hope. 2012 is over and what a relief that the world didn’t end shortly before Christmas after all! Doomsday ‘Preppers’ now eagerly await a new forthcoming date for the untimely event. An apt New Year message to them would be to give up their guns when there’s an amnesty in town and use their stockpiled food before it passes its use by date; live life to the full and be happy. Prepare for a positive future not a negative one!
The natural life span for our planet will not be spent for the next billion years or so unless we mess up by wars, greed, pollution and overpopulation there is a good chance that both we and the planet will survive indefinitely.
There are too many people and not enough resources; this is a scary combination that may be our downfall as a species. Forget Nibiru, Planet X or a rogue asteroid: our nemesis will likely come in the form of our own proliferation if we don’t address the basic problems such as clean drinking water and adequate sanitation for all.
There is still all the time in the world for humanity if overpopulation is addressed so the natural environment can be preserved and our presence on this planet be in harmony with nature rather than depleting or eradicating all that should be preserved. Even our own individual lives can be significant in bringing this about.
The human lifespan may be but a blink in eternity but we can all endeavour to do our best to make the world a better place in our own small way for the benefit of our children, grandchildren and those who share our lives, regardless of colour, creed, religion, social status or location. This will ensure we are prepared for the future and have a number of contingency plans regarding alternative power sources.
Recycle your rubbish and do your bit. Don’t waste what others might be grateful for and strive to leave this world a better place. Contribute what you can and be creative rather than destructive.
Since the industrial revolution change has happened at a far greater pace than at any other point in history. Nowadays we are already geared up to embrace further technologies that will advance civilisation to new heights. Past generations have been resistant when their existing way of life was threatened but as a species we now have the ability to diversify and be prepared to adapt as the only positive way forward. Humanity will be prepared for what the future holds if we use our collective knowledge and resources creatively for the benefit of all life on this planet.
Many eminent scientists such as Dr. Michio Kaku and the astronomer royal Martin Rees agree we to need to harness the power of the sun for a cheap and limitless fuel supply and become less reliant on fossil fuels; surviving the next hundred years will be critical. Watch this lecture to see what we must do to survive on into the future as a species and how that survival depends on the actions of the current generation .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdILmgJGuvw
