I think it is better to be poor than rich.

I used to be a waitress at this club where I live. There was a guy who came in with his so called friends. He had recently won the lottery, it was big news in my small town. When he came in the club the other waitresses and the bartenders whispered to each other, ” There’s the guy who won the lottery” . He had a group of people with him, and I knew the only reason they wanted to hang around him is because he won alot of money in the lottery. He ended up buying the entire club drinks, showing off his money. The group of people that came in with this guy left him all alone, I was looking at him sitting at the table all by himself and I never felt so sorry for a person in my life. Yes he had won a lot of money, yes he doesn’t have to live paycheck to paycheck, yes he doesn’t have the bill collectors calling him, he is set for life. But he was the loneliest person I ever saw in my life. People just used him for his money.

Then you have Micheal Jackson, his money killed him. He want that powerful illegal drug so he can sleep and he had the money to buy a doctor to give him that drug, now he is dead. Alot of regular people have trouble sleeping. They either go to the store and buy a sleep aid off the shelf or go to the doctors and have something prescribed. With his millions of dollars, he was taking care of his mother, his children and now his father Joe is trying to get some of his millions. I read that his family was an hour late to his funeral. Did they really care?

Then you have my niece. Her parents give her everything, for a thirteen year old girl, she has a IPOD Touch, cell phone. Name a gadget she has it. When she grows up and has to live on her own , she is going to get a rude awakening about life. When she has to pay the rent, the utilities, buy groceries so she can eat and when she goes into a store and wants something she cannot afford, she will have to learn she cannot have it unless she has a really good job.to pay for it.

I know there are alot of bad things about being poor. The bill collectors threaten to sue you. You cannot sleep because you worry about how you are going to pay all the bills. There are times you don’t eat because you cannot afford food. Struggling makes you a stronger person and you teach yourself how to survive in this world. Rich people are weak, they are so used to getting what they want, that when they run out of money , they don’t know what to do. There are alot of stars out there who were millionaires, now they have nothing because they blew all their money on drugs, mansions, cars etc…..
