Is there a Difference between Privacy and Secrecy - Yes

Of course there is a difference between privacy and secrecy. Any person is entitled to her or his privacy. However, many people confuse the concept of privacy. Especially paparazzi journalists, who stalk the celebrities incessantly. This is an obvious example when privacy is being invaded.

Anybody is entitled to privacy and we are blessed to have it. Nobody wants others to know absolutely everything regarding their existence. In today’s society, the concept of privacy has been distorted to the extremes.

Many people forget that privacy is essential for a healthy living. The calm, serene existence is crucial for your well-being and happiness in my opinion.

On the other hand, government, politicians often use secrecy under the pretext that they are doing it for your own good. This is so contemptible, and an insult to anyone’s intelligence. In most cases, when a government does not want to reveal some scandal it uses the formula - secrecy. They are obviously acting as arbiters of what we should not know and what we should know. We should let the politicians a message that we are intelligent enough to know right from wrong.

Of course, there are situations where secrecy is necessary and I understand that, but frequently it is being misused. Secrecy is an arrogant approach on the part of those in power who don’t want you to know what is really happening behind the close doors. This is so annoying and rude.

A desire for privacy is something that is even more important in our modern society that it was before. Today, when we are surrounded and flooded with all kinds of information, we need our moments of privacy. It is essential to distance yourself from everything for a moment in order to grasp and think more clearly. Privacy is so fragile, and delicate. One should know the difference between the right for privacy and the right for secrecy.

Whenever you hear a secret, you somehow feel that there are other issues hidden under the umbrella of secrecy. The important factor is that you are entitled to know it. The secrecy is an insult to social responsibility and integrity that any government should keep in mind.

There is a fine line between privacy and prying. Neighbors sometimes misinterpret these terms. They should respect the right for privacy. It is really a talent to draw the line between privacy and taking care of your loved ones. Even your partner, husband, parents, relatives, friends, and colleagues are entitled to privacy.

Everybody wants to be left in the privacy of her or his thoughts and allowing this to your loved ones is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give them. They will definitely appreciate it.

Privacy and secrecy compared are social monitors of our behavior in a way. Privacy explores and defines your emotional and intimate boundaries. Secrecy, one could argue, makes decisions on your behalf and without your knowing this which is unfair. We deserve more.
