Is it possible to be Poor and Happy
Wealth doesn’t always equal happiness nor does poverty always indicate depression. Many are poor and very happy while many are wealthy and very depressed. It’s quite possible to live in poverty yet remain truly happy. It’s all about what’s important to a person and how they define happiness.
Decide what is important
What do you really want out of life? There are so many things we want to do yet we don’t often stop and think about what is really important. What are we good at? Could we be happy spending the remainder of our lives doing this?
What should be changed?
Is life just fine the way it is? Can we be happy this way? Or is it time for a change? There are worse things than living in modern industrialized society and being poor.
Is there a bright side?
There is a light at the end of every tunnel. No matter how poor we are there is always someone in a worse situation. Foreclosures and poverty are often very close yet often, these people find happiness. Yes, we can be poor and happy. Look around and take note of those living on the streets. Each of them has a story. Often they are still happy and smiling.
Comfort
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that the rich and famous aren’t always happy. Many are in and out of trouble with the law, in and out of rehab centers, and fighting with the producer of a latest movie. These people aren’t happy, they’re miserable. What’s better? Wealth, fame and fortune and being miserable, or being poor and happy?
Take care of needs
Poor people are taking care of needs. Necessity is the mother of invention. How many ways can that item be reused and repurposed? Often there are many great ways to reuse or repurpose an item. Being poor lends itself to a lot of creativity and happiness.
Bloom where you’re planted
A question many ask is, “Why wasn’t I born wealthy with a silver spoon in my mouth?” The truth is, most people weren’t. Many that portray that persona are faking it. Live within the means available and be happy for what is there. Don’t worry about keeping up with the Kardashians, they’re struggling with their own issues as well.
What can be sacrificed?
Sacrificing luxury items in order to be a stay at home mom is a way of life for many families. It’s all in choices made daily. Being poor doesn’t mean unhappiness.
Motivation
Being motivated to live as a pauper and choose happiness is a way of life for more than are willing to admit it. Trying to keep up with the Jones’, Or is it instead about keeping up with reality? Whatever the case what is it really all about?
Take a few minutes to simply stop complaining and recognize that we already have what makes us truly happy and then answer the question, is it still possible to be both poor and happy? For most people, the answer is a resounding “Yes”.
