Do you have a Role Model
Life In The Fast Lane..Our Generation Today..
Here’s my intake on our artists and the new generation that is rising up today. Listen and hear me clearly my brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and teachers, there is a beginning and an ending to everything and none of us are above the law, nor are we to far gone that the world uses us for a doormat in life. We are a unique generation trying to express ourseleves and let the people know that we actually have alot to offer if given the chance, we just don’t see anyone really trying to reach out and help us. They say that they will, but where’s the hand, they say that they are but where the proof. This is not for the fortunate people out there who were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, however, as I quote (Jay Z) it’s for the “Lost One”. We don’t need to hear about anymore bridges being built or seeing the lifestyles of the rich and famous on television. When infact, we are the television right here on these streets called “America”. Look at us, then try to change the channel. Wow! just like I thought, we are the same info commerical that’s played on every channel. You can either turn from what you see or you can finally upgrade us to “HBO”. Until then listen here…
Our generation today seems to think everyone’s against them, from family members, teachers, friends all the way to law enforcement. In their mind, someone’s always out to get them instead of taking responsibility for their own actions in life. What do I think about this? I think that it’s a mixture of both. Yes, the police are out to make trouble at times. The good ones are there to bring justice when it is due. However, our artist as well as this generation today feel that they are above the law. No matter how big you are or how much money you have, you still have to live according to the law. Alot of our artist today have struggled to get where they are at now in life which is true, however, once you make it there it’s all about how you represent yourself from that point on. You should be setting an example for the future generation as well as the present. How can you be a good role model if all our children today just see you acting a fool. Either you are in and out of jail or dead over who has the most diamonds in their chain, who drives the best cars, who has the baddest chick on their arm, who totes the biggest guns or who makes the most money. Where is the love for what you do? Where has the passion gone? Did you ever have any at the beginning or was it all about the money from the start. The rap game has come to far for our artists to not be on one accord with unity and love and respect for one another as a people as well as a craft. We need to go back to class and retake “Life 101″ from an instructor from the old school. Life is to short and we need to start waking up to see that life is more than what you wear, drive or pocket. It’s about loving, giving and holding your fellow man up higher than yourself at times. It’s about listening, hearing and going forth with purpose in life, not gang banging, strife, hate and jealousy for one another. We are only here for a season and a purpose in life. Should we represent our lives to the world with meaning and purpose or should our lives just hang ballot as it has done for many year now. Take a look at yourself and your life as it is now, then ask yourself? Would I pick me as a winner? One thing you must do before answering this question is to be honest with yourself. It’s never and never will be about how others see you as a person, it’s always about how you see yourself and how God sees you. Forget what you heard and want to believe in this life, there is and will always be one person who knows you better than yourself. God! Remember you are the only one who can change you. Be a winner in life and take a vote on yourself for a change. This goes for everyone not just our artists.
P.S. Before you can keep it real, you must be real. Check mate!
