Are People Inherently Good - No
This can be considered a very complicated question when one first hears it. But when you really look at it the answer is obvious. Before you look at the question itself you must first look at the definition of some of the terms in the question. First of, we mus t fin out what it means to be inherently good. When something is inherent, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, it is naturally involved in the constitution or nature of that thing. In other-words when something is inherent, it does not have to be acquired, because it is already there. Goodness is characterized (by the Merriam Webster Dictionary) with words such as honorable, true, cogent, well founded, among other things. Through these definitions, one can use basic influence to deduce that when something is inherently good, then the goodness of that thing was not acquired, or found, but it has always been in the nature of the thing.
This pertains to humans in the fact that, if someone says that humans are inherently good, then he/she is stating that we were born good, and that the qualities of being good are instilled in this when we were born. It is obvious that this theory is impractical and untrue.
When you really look at it, the very reasons and reasons why we have a society and the very ground basic aspects of our society are based on the fact that we, as humans, are indeed not inherently. For those who think that we are not inherently good, consider this point. Why is the family the most basic institution in our society, is not the job the institutions of our society to instill good qualities into the people of our society. Is it common that you would have to teach your kid to cry for something when it is hungry, be selfish, do things that warrant you punishing him/her if you managed to still justify an answer for this question, then why do you bother disciplining your child if apparently have already intentionally raised the child as such.
With these points made, it is now obvious that humans, are not inherently good. If, indeed, we were inherently good, and the qualities of a just good humans are already instilled at birth, then why have we as a society, established basic institutions such as school, religion, and family, to develop us into just human beings. We can all see that there are some humans who appear inherently good and there are even humans who have no bad qualities, but these humans were not born that way, they have acquired that demeanor and they have worked towards that. The people who support the opposing the fact imply that we were all that way, although this is a good that it is Utopian ans not true. There is abundant evidence that we as Humans are not inherently good.
