Unconventional Lifesyle

Usually, I try to write without using direct references to myself. However, I find this topic interesting. In this day and age, I guess you can say I live an unconventional life. Ten years ago, it would have been considered a conventional life. It seems to me that half of the population is living an “unconventional life”. The values held by our parents and grandparents have been pushed to the side. Now, it is pretty normal to live an unconventional life. So, wouldn’t there be a need to change the name for these types of lifestyles?

I live a life where I still value the words written in the Bible. Today, these words have lost there impact. People no longer value these words or have not given them as much worth. I believe this is because of people’s selfishness. If they were to actually try to follow these words, they could not do the things that they wanted.

It is hard to teach children anything when everything they see around them contradicts what they are saying. I tell them that they have to dress modestly. I do not think they need to be wearing short skirts or bikinis. I tell them this and then they see children their same age dressing this way. In fact, they see most girls their age dressing this way. Then, they question me about this. Society makes it difficult to raise good children. Yet, you always hear people talking about children this day and age. People love to talk about how children are but never think about what they could do to change this.

I believe in being faithful to my husband. I would never think of cheating on him. We are partners in this life. Yet, it seems that marriage has lost its value as well. People get married and then if they hit a bump in the road they file for divorce. Divorce is so common it is sickening. What is the point of being married, to put someone on your health insurance? Then, you have homosexual marriages. I understand that people have urges and desires. However, the whole concept of marriage is based off of the Bible. So, if we are going to write “In God We Trust” on our currency and have marriages to honor the words written in the Bible, wouldn’t it make sense to stick to the words written in the Bible when considering such issues as divorce and same-sex marriages? The bible isn’t vague when it talks about this. It says “man shall not lye down with man”. What is so vague about that? It just shows that this is not a new issue. However, it has not always been accepted like it is now. People will agree when the Bible says that one should not murder or commit adultery. Should we really pick and choose which ones we obey and which ones we do not?

I also try to be a good member of my community. I do not intentionally hurt others. I obey the law and follow rules that are in place. So, this can be considered unconventional because many people have that “rules are meant to be broken” mentality. It is no wonder why we have the crime rate we have. Everyone thinks that rules do not apply to them.

Things that were once viewed as sacred are now the butt of jokes. The fact that they have a topic on this website about unconventional lifestyles says a lot about our culture. What it says to me is that I am indeed living and unconventional lifestyle.
