Being a single woman has more pros than cons

What is not to enjoy about being a single woman? As a single woman you have the freedom to do what you want without being answerable to anyone else. You may be career-oriented and so prefer to spend your time working to dating and trying to find someone to begin a relationship with. Maybe you’re just not ready to settle down and prefer dating and spending time with friends, rather than being committed to one person. Clearly, if you are in a long-term relationship you always have to consider your partner’s feelings and wishes, which you don’t when you’re single.

Being single doesn’t make you any more selfish than someone who is in a relationship. Indeed, if you’re the kind of person who does not function well in a relationship, you’re probably doing any potential partner a favour by deciding to remain single! As a single woman you can set your own priorities and follow the path in life that you want, rather than finding yourself in a situation where you always put your partner first.

Once you enter into a relationship you become bogged down with issues that can undermine the contentment that being part of a couple is supposed to bring. You spend so much time arguing about money and the fact that you’d rather be at work or with friends than at home, that you find yourself avoiding your partner. You also have to discuss your plans for the future, such as whether you intend to get married and have children, and if you have children how you are going to raise them.

When you’re a single woman you don’t have to think about these matters at all, unless you want to. You’re not tied down in any way and so if you’re fed up with your job, you can quit and relocate or go traveling around the world. If you’re in a relationship, you can’t simply tell your partner that you’re moving and expect him to follow or decide to go on a trek across the globe by yourself without hurting the other person. Being single means that you can focus entirely on what you hope to get out of life and take the necessary steps to achieve your goals.

Of course, there may be some drawbacks associated with being single, as it can sometimes get rather lonely. However, it is worth making the most of being single because once you find yourself in a relationship, you will no doubt look back at that time fondly and wish you were single again!
