Myths about Women not Liking Sex
Is the Myth That Women Do Not Like Sex Still Relevant?
The myth that women do not like sex is just that: a myth. No longer is it even a relevant myth. Female reality stars are shown hooking up with new guys each night. Pop stars like Katie Perry and Lady Gaga sing about their sexuality on stage in front of millions of people. As the matter of fact, Madonna was singing about the same thing twenty five years ago. How long has it been since the myth that women don’t like sex was relevant? I would say at least forty years. Not that the women didn’t like sex back then, it is just that women weren’t allowed to admit to liking sex. The majority of women have liked sex since the human race has existed and the majority of us like sex now.
Many years ago, men were brought up to believe that nice girls didn’t like sex, but that once married, their wives would have sex with them in order to reproduce as well as for the pleasure of their husband. Sex, as long as it is consented to between two adults, feels good. That has nothing to do with gender. However, even in the day and age of people waiting until they are nearing forty to settle down and get married, some people never getting married, and scantily clad pop stars and television personalities publicly celebrating their sexual liberation, many unfair myths about females and sex still do exist.
While it is now recognized that women enjoy sex, it is still not fully accepted. Rather than realize that sex just feels great, many people still choose to believe that while women may enjoy sex that does not make it moral. People view reality shows such as Jersey Shore and The Real World and continuously comment on the “sluttiness” of the female cast mates. Nobody seems to point out that the males are having sex with multiple partners, too. Why are men never “sluts”?
Basically, it is accepted that women enjoy sex, but that it is only moral for them to enjoy sex with a long term partner. Tiger Woods, Jesse James and Bill Clinton have all been involved in sex scandals and they have all been pretty well forgiven for their actions. If a man has an affair on his wife he either has a sex addiction or he is not getting what he needs at home. Apparently men need sex, but not women. Can you imagine how the public would have reacted had Hillary been president and had an affair with a male intern let alone the majority of her male staff? Not only would she have been impeached, she would have had the letter ‘A’ spray painted all over her in red spray paint and then she would have been beheaded.
Not only is it considered immoral for women to enjoy sex if it is with multiple partners, if they are not in a long term relationship or if they are cheating on a long term partner, but only attractive women are allowed to enjoy sex. Women who are older than what society deems as being sexually viable, overweight or in some way not up to society’s standard of beauty are considered to be perverted and easy. If a fat old man were to express his love of sex people would accept that of course overweight senior citizens get horny too, but if a fat old woman were to express the same sentiment, she would be mocked.
So no, the myth that women don’t like sex is no longer relevant, but unfortunately, many other myths about women and sex are, including the myth that it is not okay that women of all walks of life like sex. Hopefully, sometime in the near future someone will be writing an article like this one stating that that myth is no longer relevant. Until then, if you enjoy sex; keep on enjoying sex and screw them.
