My Thoughts about Michael Jacksons Death Affecting African Americans
The death of Michael Jackson was a major shock to America and the rest of the world. He was a beloved entertainer and his contributions to the world not only involved his music but he was a big contributor to charities and other causes that was near and dear to his heart. The African American community has lost someone they have looked up to as an entertainer.
I remember when I was a Pre-teen, I had Michael posters all over my walls and his albums was played all through the house, especially at parties my mother and father gave.I never got a chance to go to any of his concerts and I feel I missed out on so much more than just going to the movies to see the”Wiz,” or collecting his music and posters. I remember when, Michael Jackson first did the moonwalk and I was mesmerized. Those moments I will treasure but I would have love to have seen more of Michael Jackson. The “Thriller,” video was awesome so was mostly everything this perfectionist have done.
With all the scandal negatively characterizing his character, he continued to prevail and that alone shows his fans that he is resilient and he continues on, not letting anything stand in his way. I don’t think African Americans will let his death affect them negatively in any way. I think he will always be a hero and roll model to many, African Americans.
Some thought he defected from the African American community and that by no means is correct. Michael Jackson will always be superior to many entertainers but he equally shared the stage and he was one of the many who opened the door for many African American entertainers and inspired others. So his style will continue to be mimicked by other entertainers and that is a gift from, Michael Jackson, that he lives on through Many.
Our personal everyday lives will go on and Michael Jacksons death will not have a negative affect on African Americans and that is how Michael would want it. We all move on and hope that in death Michael is remembered as well as respected. We hope that the media will not exploit his death or disrespect Michael or his family.
The African American community will mourn and grieve with the rest of the world because we truly lost one of the greatest of all times and it is hard for me to imagine, a world without, Michael Jackson. Each generation of African Americans will know how great of a man, Michael was. And the memories of him and his music will always transcend space and time. I can’t imagine what the Jackson family is going through, but my thoughts and prayers are with the family.
