Men Aggressive Womens Rights - Yes
I’ll start by assuming that this article is referring to our society, for there are many societies in the world, and I would not say that all of them favor men. Having said that, the American society does favor men. There are multiple areas in which this is quite obvious.
The first area is politics. Have you watched the news lately? I know that we are making profound strides having a woman run for president (although she just dropped out of the race) but the majority of elite governmental positions is still occupied by men. Executive, judicial, and legislative branches of government are all overrun with men. Now, some of you might be saying that men outnumber women and that is why this is so. Well, you are wrong. Men do not outnumber women (in America) and in fact, women outnumber men.
Because the sex ratio is currently in favor of the women explains some of the fashion statements that are “catered to men.” Although our society does have a strong emphasis on being sexually appealing and such, that is due to a higher ratio of women to men. If you’ll think back to before the world wars, things were a little different. Media did not portray women as bits of delectable flesh as they do now. In fact, back then women were depicted as having class.
However, even in times long ago, such as the 50’s, society still favored men. A woman’s place was in the kitchen , the laundry room, and if she played her cards right, the bedroom. This has been a common theme for America since its inception.
Why is this the case? Because men are more aggressive. Men are constantly being bombarded with this fun little chemical called testosterone. It is why men are the majority of viewers of such sporting events as boxing, football, and killing (give it a few years.) This is obviously not true of everyone, simply the majority.
Due to men’s aggressive nature, it has been evolutionarily beneficial to them to use force to get what they want. Many of the things that would seem evolutionarily beneficial in the past is no longer appropriate in a civilized world, but there are many remnants from men’s brutish days. This includes rape, beating, killing, hording, and doing anything in their power to get what they want. There are many men today who act in an egalitarian manner, but there are still many other men who haven’t fully evolved, and it seems that many of these men are our idols. They are our sports stars, political figures, and game show hosts. Until we stop rewarding men for their aggressive behavior, they will continue engaging in it.
