Islams Effects on African American Culture
Jamal came home and she was gone. He did not understand
And yet in his heart he knew she had out grown him. Jamal
Was just a street vendor and because he was providing and
Making that cheddar. He was foolish to think that that was
Enough. He forgot he was living in a time where roles were
Changing. Light had shined in the darkness and the light woke up
Many yet many were made blind from being in the dark so long
His wife of 12 years did leave a note. It had two words on it…
“Good Bye”.
DAMN! Brother Jamal said. He had his heart in his hand no longer on his sleeve.
A love lost maybe.
It was something not hard to believe. It was coming slowly like death it was seen before
It arrived. The sun rises and the light of the sun is seen before the sun comes up you know. She was gone.
Was it that hustler? That man that sold death and made so much money all the materialistic females flock to him and his crew. Their appetites grew and an addiction was formed. Yes my baby was never one to get high but she was gone. All kinds of thoughts raced through his mind.
Jamal sat quietly by the bed and remembered their times together. The exchange of ecstatic pleasure of the giving flower she was to him. He was to her the taking bee who visited and their song was melodious lovemaking. The pleasure of the salt intermingled in the sea the sea twelve years how could she leave me. He looked at the bed they shared for many moons and thought how he got use to her being there. Her warm body her breath her smell her love making. The words that were said in the promises made. Forever came today. Forever knocked on the door and took her. What could he do? What should he have done?
Jamal looked at the clock. It was six am in the morning. It was time to pray. It was the early Morning Prayer called fajr. He felt that he should go to the masjid and pray in Jammat with the other believers in Allah and His Messenger Muhammad peace is upon him. The brother Jamal prepared for the salaat when he noticed the daylight was coming. It was now he realized that no matter what may happen in his life He must be on time for the events that come. He made the prayer and it soothed his heart. The remembrance of Allah is the greatest force.
He worked all day and was very tired after prayer he laid his burden down to rest.
While he slept he was visited by a dream. There was his wife Fatimah dressed in all white sipping wine with Allah. Jamal in his dream seemed to be floating in the air. He was not walking. Fatimah and Allah were having conversation. She kept saying subhan Allah WA bi hamdihi. She kept this dhikr (remembrance) up for seemingly a long time then she looked at Jamal floating in the atmosphere. Tears were flowing down her face from her eyes and she spoke clearly I love you my husband.
She said recite Lah ilaha illahlah as much as you can this is a trial a test from Allah who loves you.
Jamal tossed and turned in his body upon the bed that he and Fatimah shared in the house that they lived in and there children were born. He was sweating and crying as he slept but did not awake. Flashes of light blinded his dream sight and he started sub consciously seeking refuge in Allah fro the rejected evil Shaitan. Some how Jamal began to calm down and peace was returned to him. He slept until night and Lord knows he needed it.
When he awoke he began to suspect some kind of foul play. He thought that this dream had some significance but could not put his understanding to it.
He prayed the magrib or sunset prayer and went out to the streets. The night was warmer than the day. People hustled and bustled to and from work and the store for things they needed in the house. He made his way to the park and sat on the bench. A couple was smooching and when he came they decided to get up and leave. Gang bangers were talking smack about there battles with rival gangs. The prostitutes were ready for the night shift work they do. The crack heads were emerging out of their dark holes. They were really walking fast as if the next minute will not come. Mothers called to their children to come out of the darkness. Come and eat Peggy get your brother Rahmel and com up stairs. Jamal sat in the park getting ready to practice the kung fu that Ali had taught him. The bear Mahmood came up and asked what’s up you are ready to train? Jamal said yeah but brother I got a lot on my mind. The conversation went on a while then Jamal said As salaam alaykum Mahmood. Mahmood replied wa alaykum salaam. They both agreed they should have said this greeting of peace a prayer when they first started talking. Mahmood informed Jamal that some dudes were speaking real loud about a victim they had took out. Further on he said that they said they killed her but did not get a chance to rape her. She died before they could enter her body. They were bragging talking over on Sutter and Rockaway smoking that gangster and scoping new victims.
The two brothers did their kung fu forms and then engaged in sparing. They went to the Masjid to pray the Isha prayer. While they sat on the prayer rugs a tattered man came and tugged Jamal by his sleeve. Jamal greeted him with as salaam alaykum, He replied wa alaykum salaam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakhatuhu Then he pulled Jamal close to him and got up in his ear. The one who praise and glory belongs to Alone has sent me to you. The news is of Fatimah reaching paradise. She is enjoying the fruits and nectars of Allah yet crying profusely because she misses you Jamal.
Jamal’s head began to return to the dream. The man said she wrote that note under coercion. She was kidnapped from the house by street thugs who had to join the gang by raping and killing a righteous woman. Jamal be ye patient and recite there is no god but God profusely. Then the old tattered man faded. No one else saw him and Jamal thought he was going insane.
Jamal caught the bus to the Ville. He got off at Pitkin and Rockaway. When the neighborhood thugs saw him they began to whistle their call to war. They knew Fatimah was a Muslim sister and that the retribution would come to them one day. Jamal saw the moves and calmly recited There is no god but God profusely over and over again. He said it in his heart not audibly. He walked where Mahmood described as the place of bragging.
One of the warriors a tall dark skinned man called Jamal out. Yeah we did that to your wife nigger. The bitch is dead. What the hell you want to die too? Jamal kept on reciting there is no god but God within himself as he looked into the eyes of one of Fatima’s would be killers and attempted rapists. Soul Jamal said tell me where your accomplishers are you know the one that helped you. She was not helpless Allah was with her and He took her to himself before you could defile her. Fear welled in the eyes of the gang banger. That Fear spread to all the others to see one man UN afraid mumbling something to himself. Seven men attacked Jamal with knives and guns. Allah took Jamal out of his body before the blood hit the ground. He was martyred seeking to require their lives for the honor of the Muslim sister his wife Fatimah. He looked down upon his body as they mutilated it. Jamal looked up and was joined with Fatimah. You could hear the Angels saying sub hanna Allah wal hamdulillah La ilaha illahlah wa Allah U Akbar. They went to paradise. The pleasure of Allah was that there would be no crying in heaven and that they should be soul mates forever.
Meanwhile down here on the ground the real illusion we see the Police coming and the thugs running away from the evil they had done. You see the Emergency ambulance come and try to revive the body of Jamal. You see the eventual arrests of the miscreants that caused blood shed in the earth. You may live to see Allah’s justice reeked upon them no matter. It is true from Allah we all come to Allah we must return.
The Muslim community was enraged to know that this happened and Jamal did not seek council. If he were to have consulted those in authority he may have had some help. Mahmood did not want to talk. He made two rakaats of prayer to Allah and began to converge in the neighborhood by foot. Yusef and Seifuldin along with Jalal went on down to confront the braggarts. The battle ensued but it was so silent that it took days to find any evidence of this revenge. The Lord says vengeance is mine and none gives justice like Him. Mahmood and the crew became old men atoning and repenting for their blood bath. It is always better to save a life than to take a life. If one forgives and forbears Allah writes it down as expiation. Yet we are all just mere mortals and our blood runs hot. Only the God is free of imperfections.
Yes my people she is gone
Their forever came to them
This world blood and tears
Allah their friend
No one knows when they will take their last breath
When or where they will meet the angel of death
Look there they are no more in heaven cry-I
They are in paradise all is fine
They are together conversing with Allah
Experiencing pleasure and sipping wine
Peace be upon you all
