Zombie Attack
When zombies attack, quick thinking, preparation, and organized tactics are crucial if you hope to survive. Those who are unprepared and those who panic will be the first victims of the undead. The foolish will satiate the undead for a short while; take advantage of this time to get to safety. You will need two plans: one for leaving from your home and a plan for obtaining supplies if you must retreat from a location that is not you home.
The first step is to get to an unpopulated area. As the potential food supply diminishes, so too will the number of zombies. Choose your location carefully. A cold location will slow the zombies down. Zombies, being undead, cannot regulate their body temperature. Therefore, since their bodies don’t generate heat a cold environment will slow them significantly. However, this also prevents decomposition and allows them to survive longer. A desert climate is suitable in that the zombies will more quickly decompose, however, it is a greater challenge in high heat to maintain enough food and water to make an extended stand in a desert situation. If a boat is available to you, you could also make for offshore islands but these could become crowded. Oil rigs are the superior fortress of choice as there is a source of food readily available, they are in deep waters, have a source of power, shelter, and all have their own distilleries.
The following items are suggested for zombie preparation. You should have 1 supply in your home and another at an alternative location. If you cannot obtain your supplies then you will want to scavenge or secure them as quickly as you can. If you are traveling along a highway and stop to take supplies from a store, be sure to be quick and careful. Do not enter areas where you cannot see well.
Zombie Supplies
Nothing smaller that a .45 pistol or a shotgun, ammunition, aluminum baseball bats, other blunt force trauma instruments, water, MREs, canned food, water purifier, pocket knife, compass, emergency flat tire repair can, multipurpose tool, crowbar, flashlight, matches, flint, flares, hose for siphoning gasoline, rope, first aid kit, bow and arrow, fishing gear, bleach, cb radio, and radio.
While in hiding, do not draw attention to yourself with lights or loud noises. Clean any injuries or bloody areas quickly with bleach as zombies can smell blood from great distances. Listen for radio broadcasts and do what you can to make contact and receive information from the outside world. Travel as little as possible, but be ready to move to a new location at a moment’s notice if needed. Be wary of outsiders and keep your family safe above all else. There is safety in numbers, but do not let the stupidity of a stranger be your downfall. Also beware of seemingly helpful people who may be more interested in your supplies than joining your team.
Be prepared. Be fast. Be smart.
