Well known Holidays in England
England has a number of notable destinations and resorts. Either by the sea, or away from the coast, for the holiday-goer England does have something to offer. So, here are a few of the best established holiday destinations in England.
Blackpool:
Blackpool is one of the most notable coastal resorts in England, dating back to the Victorian era, where Blackpool set the benchmark for such resorts. With its twin piers, stretches of sandy beaches and exciting variety of attractions it is difficult to beat. Blackpool’s theme park has some of the most thrilling roller coasters, including the Pepsi Max Big One and Grand National as well as a variety of less daunting rides. The Blackpool Tower also remains a notable landmark of Blackpool, and you can take a trip up to the top of 380 ft tower.
London:
You won’t find a beach in London, but the capital city still has much to offer. The Tower of London, Natural History Museum, and the Tate Modern are just a few of the exciting venues. Overall, London is best for a Spring or weekend break.
Torquay:
Torquay is in southern Devon, and is the foremost town of the so-called English Riviera region. Aside from its variety of sandy beaches, Torquay also has some colourful, Mediterranean style gardens which perfectly compliment the sea-front. Situated by Torquay’s marina, you will find Living Coasts which is essentially a coastal zoo. The Babbacombe Model village, includes a detailed model village set in vibrant and colourful gardens. A short walk from the seafront lies the Craft Centre of Cockington court, nearby the thatched Cockington village. Aside from such sites, boat trips across Torbay to the other Torbay towns of Paignton and Brixham are also available from Torquay.
Combe Martin
Combe Martin is one the best sea-side resort of northern Devon. The sheltered harbor has its own mixture of sandy and pebble beaches, which have a number of rock pools. However, equally Combe Martin is well linked to some of Devon’s best beaches such as Woolacombe and Ilfracombe, with boat trips running regularly from Ilfracombe harbor. You can also visit the Combe Martin dinosaur park, the Combe Martin museum or Watermouth Castle. To the east of Combe Martin there is also Exmoor national park, covering 256 sq miles of steep valleys and sweeping moorlands.
So overall, these are just a few notable holiday destinations in England. The likes of Blackpool, London, Combe Martin, and Torquay are well worth a visit, in Summer or otherwise.
