Superstition Superstitious

People believe in superstition because they are taught, duped, or voluntarily do so. The word in its Latin form “supertitio” means-“stand over”. Fear, is also a minor definition of the word. People believe if they do not comply with the superstition of their belief something bad will happen. I just so happen to think its all crap. If a black cat is such bad luck, then people shouldn’t have black cats as pets. If stepping on a crack broke my mothers back, then everyones mother should have a broken back. If splitting a pole is so-called bad luck while walking with someone, then there shouldn’t be any poles on the street at all. Its all nonsense, I for one am not bothered by it. My belief is this, if it happens, it was meant to be. Simple! I’m not going to complicate my life anymore than what it already is.

People are so gullible and need to believe in something so bad that you could put on a moose head and start predicting the future, be your predictions right or wrong, someone somewhere is going to believe you, if your words are well spoken and pronounced. Superstition a.k.a. stuper-stition is believed by people for many a reason. Religion has been coupled with superstition. Politicians are superstitious, as well as athletes. People in our daily lives are superstitious. Why? People don’t want to lose! People don’t want to experience the negative life has to offer. Most of all, fear plays a major factor. Oh my god! If I don’t wear my lucky underwear I’m gonna lose the game for my team. If I don’t turn the t.v. off, I’m gonna lose the election. The bride and groom shouldn’t see each other before they get married.

Give me a break! If I didn’t see my wife before we had gotten married, then how could we be married? Lots of people create their own superstitions, and believe in them whole heartedly. Its just something we do. I won’t drive past a certain police precinct in my neighborhood, because it seems like every time I did in the past, I wound up in there for one reason or another. What about those who are taught superstitious beliefs via religion? You must light this candle, burn this oil, wear this garment and the list goes on. It seems to me that religion and superstition in some countries or on some islands are even more prevalent that an education. Be religion and superstition ubiquitous how can you avoid it?

People believe religion because they want too, that’s it. Point blank!
