If so, it is probably because you are not well informed about the German people. Not all of the common myths about Germans are entirely true. In fact, some may be the exact opposite. Germany may be known for its beer, but you can be assured that not all Germans are obsessed with beer.

Common myth #1

Germans can’t live without beer. It is probably more correct to say, Germans love beer. Because most German men do love beer, some more than the next guy, he can live without it. In fact, most Germans are not alcoholics.

Common Myth #2

The German language can be a little confusing. With so many different grammar rules, German can be a very challenging language to learn. It is safe to say that the language itself is very punctual. But are the people?

Germans are very punctual. When a German person is speaking, he is probably following every grammar rule and speaking his language perfectly. Although, it is common among the younger generations to speak in slang, as is common in any country. So it is safe to say that some Germans are very punctual. It, of course, depends upon the person.

Common Myth #3

For those who don’t know much about Germany and its government, it can be described as very orderly. But does a country’s government really tell you how it’s people are?

Germans love order and hate chaos. This statement is not entirely true. While most Germans do love order, they do not hate chaos. Have you ever seen a German soccer game? For those who haven’t, it can get crazy. There have been games where the fans set things on fire! But there is probably some order in that as well. But it just goes to show, just because one loves order, does not mean he hates chaos.

Common Myth #4

German men may not be known for their romantic ways and some may even come across as cold. This could be the most common myth about Germans.

Germans are not emotional. While this may be the most common myth, it is the most untrue. There are many, many male Germans and they are, in fact, more emotional than any American male. If you are not very close friends with a German, then he probably won’t show it. But keep in mind that it depends upon the person. Everyone is different no matter what race or where they are from.
