How to react in a zombie outbreak
It can be pretty chaotic should a zombie outbreak take place. Normally when you watch zombie movies, you try to visualize how things are going to turn out; whether ugly or not. Whatever it is, survival of the fittest is the key factor in a zombie outbreak for sure.
There are a few points that should be considered, and as much as this writer wants to make something humorous out of this, he is talking about a hypothetical situation where zombies are lurking, so here you go.
• Pack your things
Normally in an infested town of zombies, people are gushing to get into their vehicles to leave the place and go to another safe town where there is no danger. This can be the easiest prey ever for the zombies as traveling cars have a high chance of being attacked.
It’s sometimes not best to pack your things, and deciding to go somewhere which you do not know the direction. So stick to where you are, and make the best out of it.
• Your home is your sanctuary
Always remember that. Close your windows and double lock your doors. You know your home’s layout the best, so set up traps that whichever zombie comes, you would know what to do.
If you have a panic room, all the better. You and your loved ones can hide there and do not ever attempt to become a hero and tackle the zombies yourself.
Normally panic rooms are hidden, therefore when night-time is about to come, hide in the panic room until morning comes. Keep your home clean, and do not give an indication that you and your family are still living in the vicinity. Zombies are stupid, but they can detect human movement easily.
If your panic room is very hard to find, chances are these zombies won’t be able to get to it. Just remember never to leave a trail of blood or leave any meat in the fridge.
You would want to keep everything simple and basic, so the zombies get bored and they will leave the place, thinking that no one is there.
• Keep your weapons in handy
Not to kill humans, but gearing yourself for a zombie attack, of course. This is normally a matter of life and death, so if you sympathize with these species and are not prepared to use those weapons and keep them handy, chances are they will be the ones to use their own harness to harm you. Practice fighting during the day, eat foods which are healthy that can give you the strength to fight, just in case.
• Keep your electronic gadgets and radio by your side
Keep your electronic gadgets like your cellphone and laptops by your side. If there is Internet access, all the more better so you can email people outside your area to seek help. And then keep the radio on at all times too, and listen to announcements made whether there are any rescue teams out there or something.
• Canvas up your vehicles
Should you have a vehicle or more than one, you might want to canvas them up and keep them tight. Make sure all the keys are kept with you, in your panic room or something.
Somewhere you know is not accessible by other people and worst, the zombies! The reason for canvasing up your vehicles is to reduce the chances of your vehicles being stolen.
Normally if you watch movies and see vehicles parked outside homes, people may tend to steal them, and if they are good at starting a car without using a key, then all the more worst.
Therefore by canvasing them up, you are increasing the time of them stealing and they wouldn’t want to waste too much time opening up the canvas. Hence, your vehicle is spared from being stolen.
This is extremely important because just in case there’s a rescue team announcement and they’ve set a particular place as a pick up point, you would need to use your vehicle for sure. This is especially crucial if you have a large family too, and you need to keep them safe at all times.
• Be calm at all times
This is extremely important. If panic feelings start to sink in, then there’s a high chance that an outbreak might happen easily. Once the nervous system is working in place, then things might not be able to be done in a calm manner. Just relax, take things in calmly and make sure that preparations are done.
• Gear yourself up and do not be a target
Last but not least, it is important to prepare yourself physically and mentally against becoming a target or a victim to these flesh-infecting zombies. They are no longer your neighbors (should they suddenly become infected or what), and they are as dangerous as can be.
Therefore, gear yourself up and do not become a target. If you know so and so are showing signs of becoming a zombie, it’s best to stay away and save yourself from any possible danger.
By following all of these steps, hopefully you will not be a victim of those vicious monsters. Fight till the very end, and never admit defeat. They are there to destroy, so hide away from them, and if must, destroy them before the whole area becomes a zombie-infected place.
