Australia is the sixth largest country in the world but also has a relatively small population estimated at around 20 million people. A fact most people never seem to know is that the capital of Australia is Canberra. Also 70% of the populations live in the ten largest cities in the country such as Melbourne, Sydney etc. The country is home to over 6 million people from 200 different countries! Also the biggest export sales for Australia are Diamonds, Coal, wool, beef, lamb and sugar.

If you don’t like animals or you’re scared of creepy crawlies then Australia most certainly won’t be for you, if you do enjoy animal then going to see the vast variety of animals is most certainly exciting and worth the travel. Australia’s most favourite and iconic animal is the kangaroo, there are 60 different species however certain species are quite rare and the majority of the estimated 60 million kangaroo’s are only 4 different species.

There are more dangerous spiders in Australia than anywhere else in the world, if you’re like me and scared stiff of them then keep aware at night. When staying in Australia your almost guaranteed to see a spider, it doesn’t matter how small it is don’t touch it, its always better to just stay away from them unless your 100% sure because it can most certainly be life threatening. The same goes for snakes, fatalities from spiders and snakes are quite low considering the amount you can find in the country however being a visitor to Australia its better not to take the chance.

A factor with the Australian geography is rainfall, even though Australia is relatively sunny and beautiful it certainly can have its times of rainfall. South Australia has the tendency to record less rainfall than then rest of Australia and the highest records were in Queensland. Australia is a little like America, to travel across the whole country can take you a while, it is said that the longest river in Australia is the Darling covering 4 states and supplies over 50% of South Australia’s water supplies.

Australia is a great place to see, there is so much to see you will never see it all but what you do see will be breath taking from the beautiful cities to the even more beautiful outback with its variety of wildlife.
