If you think that literature does not reflect life in anyway, then you are seriously wrong. Literature mirrors life in every way.  People have been writing for centuries. Some of your favorite artists, some of the greatest leaders, and the greatest philosophers have all used literature throughout the times and around the world.

Literature reflects life. More importantly, it reflects to yours. If you read literature of any kind, it’s hard not to find something that can relate to you.  Writings are based on real life as it is. Any story that is told, any poem that has been expressed, and any speech that has been spoken to the world have all been based on things and events that people have experienced in their lifetime. Writing does not come from nowhere. Every idea that has been thought of to be put to pen and paper has been manifested from a childhood memory, an adventure, or a love in one’s life. Literature is a way to speak with someone from a different time. If you want to see what it was like to live in the Roman time period, you can pick up a book from that time period and you can definitely see what it was like. I know what you are thinking, what about those authors that live today that only writes about that time period? Well how do you think they are able to write about such escapades? They had to read literature that came from that time.

Literature can go further than any movie that you will ever see.  You see the movie and you will get thrill. But if you read the book based on the same movie, not only you will get a thrill, you will receive the feelings that the characters felt, you will be able to imagine being in their shoes, and they will tell you all of the parts that was not in the movie. Have you ever wondered why the books are usually better than the movies? The reason is because literature is timeless. Movies have to be remade while literature can remain the same for decades to come.

If you read enough literature, it can help you become a wiser person. You will definitely run across a quote or sayings that can redefine your personality and the way you do things because you wanted to be like the hero that wrote it. It’s almost like having a mentor. And more importantly, it mirrors your life.
