The Impact of Hoaxes on People
Hoaxes can have a number of different effects on the people that are taken in by them or the people that simply give them attention as being potential fact. There are countless hoaxes in the world and there have been for generations. These include the likes of the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot and countless UFO sightings all over the world.
How hoaxes affect people’s beliefs
People’s beliefs can be dramatically changed by the idea of a hoax. A human mind that has been exposed only to the norm and what is before them, only to learn of something completely different and out of the blue and that is alien to them, can prove to give them food for thought and awaken their minds to what ‘could’ be out there beyond where the eyes can see. It can lure people in to the unknown, the paranormal and even the supernatural. Even if, as the name suggests, the event in question turns out to be nothing more than a hoax, people can still endure the ‘what if’ stages of thinking. All hoaxes have to come from somewhere whether imagination or story alike.
How hoaxes affect people’s creativity
Not every effect of a hoax has to be negative. People can have their minds opened up to understand and accept beliefs and ideals beyond their own comfort zones and to the unknown. This can be a great way to nurture creativity. Those that are open to understanding hoaxes and their roots can use this knowledge to their advantage to benefit their creativity. People can write stories and draw pictures based on such hoaxes as a means of furthering creativity, making a hobby or even making money. Those that are in the mindset of ‘what if’ in regards to whether the subject of the hoax could be real or not, could also plan vacations to popular sighting destinations to ‘hunt’ for the creature or sighting in question which can make for great creative memories and stories.
Hoaxes can have a major impact on people’s lives. There are television programs, websites and even entire communities dedicated to solving hoaxes, hunting for the subject of hoaxes and in some cases, even creating them. This is just a mere shadow of the major impact that hoaxes can have on people’s lives. Some people even dedicate their lives to researching and studying them as a career. Hoaxes can have a major impact on people’s lives in the form of opening their minds to the unknown and the world beyond where the eyes can see and even by nurturing their creativity to aid their budding writing or artistry career or even by benefiting luxury vacation time and contributing to the creation of memories.
