The human body could be the most useful or the most useless commodity depending on how you look at it for the most part. Out on the war zones across the world, human life can considered to be very worthless; thus, one hears or reads the news reports about mass casualties and mass graves as if they were nothing. In other parts of the world, the human body is a very valuable commodity. With respect to the female human body, the possibilities seem to be rather endless for the most part. However, the possibilities do round down to one important factor: appearance. Appearances are by all means everything. This can be done for legal and illegal means. Many companies have acknowledged and utilized that concept. Thus, it makes a good marketing tool. A good number of ways that women can use their bodies as commodities would be in the business of arts and entertainment.

The first way that women can use their bodies as commodities would be in your music videos. For those that keep up with music trends, one would probably watch the music videos of your favorite artists. Primarily in your rock ‘n roll, hip-hop/rap, and r & b videos, there are attractive women that appear in the background scenes.

The second way would be through acting. Take a look at the various attractive actresses such as Eva Longoria, Angelina Jolie, Shiri Applebee, Indira Varma, Reshma Shetty, Jessica Alba, Rose Byrne, Vanessa Williams, Ming Na, Olga Kurylenko, etc. In the world of acting, appearances are everything. One example would be actress Megan Fox. She has become a popular actress despite criticism about her acting ability.

The third way would be through singing. Many female singers also use their attractive appearances to garner a fan base. If they are attractive, then they will get an increase of male fans. If the male fans do not care much about her music, then they would care more about the physical appearance. Keep in mind that there are many music artists that appear on movies and TV shows. A good number of people would watch such shows and movies just to see those artists.

The fourth way would be through marketing/advertising. When selling clothes, you would see models posing in various articles of clothing. Also, one needs to pay attention to the major fashion shows across the world. For grand openings of businesses such as bars and restaurants, attractive looking females would be outside passing out fliers, perform at the entrance, or pose. E3 is a prime example of women using their bodies to garner attention. One simply needs to look at the booth babes. The same thing can be applied to restaurant serving and bartending. Also, a good example would be the maid cafes in Tokyo’s Akihabara District.

The fifth way would be through adult entertainment such as gentleman’s clubs, pornographic films, and adult magazines. Depending on what part of the world you live in, this can either be a legal or illegal way.

This also extends to illegal means such as prostitution. However, prostitution is not illegal everywhere. There are places in the world in which the profession is legal. One can look at the DC Madam scandal. Also, one can reference the scandal that caused Eliot Spitzer to resign from his position as New York state governor. Ashley Dupree even used the scandal to launch her singing career.

These are major examples on how the female human body can be a commodity. A more recent commodity would be the sex appeal for MMA (mixed martial arts). Attractive female MMA fighters will draw in a lot of viewers. One simply has to look at fighters such as Gina “Conviction” Carano and Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson.
