Comparing Werewolves and Vampires
A Comparison of Vampires and Werewolves
First, lets take a look at each mythological creature, and then we can compare and differentiate between the two.
Vampires
The creatures who roam in the shadows on the night. Having no issues living their undead lives amongst humans and other beings, they slying live their lives right under our noses and most often are not even noticed until they are breathing down your neck.
Vampires are strong willed and embued with powers of seduction and enchanment that makes them a tough bug to crush. With the supernatural ability to pursuade the weak human mind into a controlled subserviant prey, and the super human virtue of undead strength, they are a formidable opponent to any other being.
Their degree of supernatural power and prowess is different and unique to each vampire, just as much as a finger print is to a human being. Some will have brute strength, unmatched by anything else, while others will be more suited to shape shifting and powers of illusion.
Living on the blood that once ran their vanes as a human, their minds do not need any substance to survive and thrive, but their undead corpses need blood to keep from drying up. Because of this, they have to replenish their bodies often, if they are to continue on in their path of evil spirited mischieve.
Vampires are often endowed with senses that are beyond the human range. They can see farther, jump higher, feel more intensely, and hear more precisely than a human can. This makes it difficult to track or subdue a Vampire, as they are much better equipped at hunters.
There are very few visable differences between a living human being and a vampire. It becomes quite a skill to distinguish the differences between the two. Naturally, with any creature that is not truly alive, they have very pale skin, due to the blood that is no longer regularly corsing through their veins. There have been debates over the physical diffence in their teeth. Some will say that they have dozens of sharp tiny teeth, while others debate that they only have two long sharp fangs. It is still not official what set of chompers vampires come equipped with, and since their is no real scientific documentation on Vampires dental records, it is still up in the air.
There have been many debates through out the centuries on the best pest removal proceedure of Vampires. There are very few records of ‘friendly’ or ‘tame’ Vampires, and so it tends to be in the best interest of most living creatures to keep the Vampires at bay, or to destroy them.
Movies and creative fiction have given many the idea that exposure to Sunlight is one of the best ways to detroy a creature of the night, but old time mythological philisophers will argue you with you over this idea. It was not until recently in human culture that sunlight was ever thought of as a weapon and with no real evidence (since they would ‘supposedly’ burn up), it is hard to prove.
Crucifix’s, Garlic, Stakes, Fire, Holy Water, Beheading and Weapons made from Silver are all said to be weakness of Vampires, and the only methods of detroying one.
How does one get turned into a Vampire? Most fol lore will tell you that Vampires increase their numbers by biting unsuspecting victims. There are also other theories that suggest you can be cursed into being a vampire, or you can drink the blood of a Vampire to become one.
Werewolves
Now that we have taken some time to go through vampies. Let’s get to know Werewolves.
Hairy and violent beasts that change form in the tide of the full moon. Hungry and ill tempered, Werewolves are known to man as one of the many dangerous scurges of the night.
Continuing as docile creatures in their human form, they usually live somewhat normal human lives through out most of the year, but for each full moon they experience a change that turn them into the formidable beast we see depicted in modern day literature and movies.
There are many different idea’s as to what a Werewolf really lookes like has been debated upon over the centuries, but it has come to a general concensious, that Werewolves vary in appearance as much as each human varies. Their physical attributes will generally be as unique as their finger prints. Having fur that matches the natural body hair color, and looks that change from creature to creature.
It is also widely assumed that as with the ‘wolf’ side of the shape shift, the Werewolf will look like a mix between a human and a wolf. With a long snout full of sharp grabbing teeth, strong powerful claws for tearing and and a keen smart sense of hunting their prey.
Werewolves have strong capabilities and are much better hunters than almost any other shape shifting creature known to mythology. They have very delicate smell that is sensitive to even the smallest drop of blood, can see in the dark, survive extreme temperatures, and are rarely slowed by oncoming attacks, and they also have the ability to heal themselves from just about any injury.
Some over time have grown to believe that Werewolves are not incompitent killers with no other will, and instead have adopted the idea that they still retain their human consciousness, feeling and mental weaknesses.
The Werewolves weaknessess: Weapons made from pure Silver, Beheading or removing the Heart.
How does one become a Werewolf?
Idea’s of Werewolf breeding have pretty much remained the same in historical concepts. Generally, you must receive the “Curse of the Werewolf’, which is when you are biten or scratched by a Werewolf. Werewolves have an infectious desease in their blood that causes the symptoms and shape shifting. It is also thought that unlike most mythological creatures, Werewolves can breed to create new Werewolves. They can breed with a human, which is another way that is thought to turn a person into a werewolf, and once the child is born, it will be born with natural Werewolf abilites.
