Not Handicap just different

There are some people who might disagree with what I’m about to say, and there are some who may agree with it. Frankly, it’s quite alright though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just wanted to bring this to your attention so you may take a deeper look through my eyes.

The point that I’m trying to get across is that there is no such thing as being handicap. Handicap is just a made up word, for a made up definition. Believe me, I too used to think there was such a thing, so don’t get hard on yourself if you have ever felt this way. My whole life people called me handicap, which is the main reason why I used to think that I was.

Let me explain. Take for instance my situation (see about me). Besides the mental and emotional issues that I had to endure, there was never any type of physical limitations standing in my way. I may have had to find a different way to accomplish a certain task, but there always was a way around it. Just because I had to do what ever it was in a different fashion, doesn’t at all suggest in any way that I am handicap.

Let’s take this subject a little deeper. Remember, listen to what I’m about to say with the ears that are implanted in your heart. So, what about someone who is blind? Okay, so they can’t see with their eyes, do you think that they are handicap because of this? I don’t think so! You might think that life has dealt them with a bad deck of cards, and that their life is in shambles. These poor people, how can they love life, and appreciate everything in it, when they are neglected from seeing anything?

In all actuality, these people were blessed at birth, a blessing in which we will never understand. They can hear, feel, and sense things that we could never imagine. In case you’re wondering, this is why we were blessed with the six senses, the sixth being our intuition. They use touch, sound, feelings, and their senses through intuition to see everything around them. Once again, just because they had to learn a different way to see, doesn’t suggest in any way that they are handicap.

The same goes for someone who is deaf. Their ears are really their hands and their eyes. Yes, they may have to talk with their hands, but their eyes catch a perfect perspective of life, a beautifully painted picture of the world. They see life in a way we will never imagine.

No matter what the situation is, the outcome will always be the same. There is no such thing as handicap! God created every single person in life differently for a reason. Think of it this way. How plain and boring would life be if everyone looked the same way? Picture everyone having the same body, the same voice, the same height and weight, and further more, the same outlook towards life? What could we possibly learn from that? There wouldn’t be anything to learn! For all we know, words like inspiration might not have even existed.

Even if we tried our hardest, I bet we could never even picture a life in which we were all built the same. So since a life like this one is unimaginable, why not change the way that we perceive other people’s images? Why can’t we put an end to all the finger pointing, all the unnecessary staring, laughing, and name calling? Are we afraid that we might appreciate life much more? Give it a try, I promise it won’t hurt half as bad as it does when someone is made fun of.

Also, instead of feeling bad for someone who you might think is underprivileged or someone who looks different, all you need to do is understand that they are just as capable as you are in life. Instead, give God thanks that you are able to witness and be around someone who is blessed differently. You will be amazed what you can learn from someone who you may believe wasn’t given a lot.
